1. In the high school that I attended, if Fatima Hasque decided to where herhijab and Shawl to the prom then that was her choice. As long as she wascomfortable then no one would mind. Fatima seemed very strong and comfortablewith her Muslim religion and no one at my school would make her feel left outor unhappy. The school I went to was very small and family like. Not that peoplewouldn't have their own opinions but they would keep it to themselves becauseprom is a night of happiness and memories and it is not our place to ruin it for her.
2. I do believe that we as Americans are very ignorant wen it comes to othercountries and cultures. I say we because I am guilty of this as well. While I do not believe that the United States is the only place to live, I do not care to know about other countries because I am not there nor do I plan to visit. I am not muslim so I do not feel I have to learn about the muslim religion. That is their life and their choice. The essay was correct on the things they said about Americans. Many of them don't know the exact locations of U.S states let alone another country. I understand that people of different cultures get frustrated with simple Americans thinking that they know things based on what they've heard, read or watched on television, but they cannot fault them. That's just all they were exposed to. Unfortunately, Americans will always feel that other cultures is not important to them but, we are in America. I do not believe that in other countries they learn about America and its ways unless they planned to come here.
